"Worth the money" 2010-01-09

This scanner pen has become a precious tool in my research work. It definitely saves me time - scanning words at a much quicker rate than I could type them. It is not always perfect (sometimes struggles with underlined text), and it took some getting used to, but, overall, it is a spectacular little gadget!

"DO NOT BUY THIS!!" 2010-01-08

Ok, well I bought this pen and I regret the trouble it has caused so far. First off, I ordered the pen from two different sellers. The first pen came in a plastic package that was taped together with scotch tape. The contents were just kinda shuffled inside and the cardboard label inside was in backwards. For a NEW item, it was pretty crappy looking. I RMA'd on arrival. The second pen came in a box, you would think much better. Same components but just as bad! The box is small and the CD-Rom install has to fit in diagonally to fit. This basically means the pen and wires in the box push against the CD-Rom the whole time. When I tried to install the drivers I found out that I couldn't because the CD-ROM was BENT! In this day and age, what lack of attention does it take to pack something so poorly that it bends the cd?

So not having drivers, I went to the install website and downloaded the drivers and software. I installed them and attached the pen. No Dice. The Pen would eventually show up as "hardware found" but when I went to the drivers directory from the install, windows would say "windows cannot find the software to install the device". BUT that's not all! There's More! After installing the drivers, my trackpad would not operate correctly. I could not longer left click with it. Very hard to uninstall something in windows without a left click. Also my LAN network icon in network settings disappeared. I think the drivers installed caused massive hardware conflicts.

So all in all,

Lousy packaging, junky product, software actually did worse than nothing by harming my computer, and according the seller "that's just how they ship the product to us".

So not to leave out blame, horrible manufacturing company for such a cheaply un-thoughtout product, and of course to those third party sellers. They are trying to sell us something they know is sub-par for $100. They just hope it is too much of a hassle for you to RMA once you get what you aren't expecting.

p.s. This is the most negative review I have written for a product (which it deserves) and I have about 18 years of extensive computer experience.

I purchased this after reading a lot of reviews on this product and the competition. While I've only had it a few days, I am pleasantly surprised at how accurately it captures the scanned text. You just have to keep your hand steady and learn not to release preasure until you are at the end of the line. I use it primarily to scan Russian text, which I paste into an online translator. I tried ECTACO's own translation software on a trial basis and found it much inferior to what you can use for free online. The best online translator I have found is "IMTRANSLATOR." Keep in mind that none of the electronic translators will provide perfect results, but rather give you a general idea of what is being communicated. The English text that I scanned with the C-Pen was error-free provided I kept a steady hand. I would definitely recommend based on my few days of use.

The circumference of the pen, where it needs to be held, is so big that its very difficult to hold the pen AND keep pressing a button (right next to where you are holding the pen) every time one needs to scan. The non circular construction of the pen (its flat) makes it even more difficult to work with.

This is a great little calculator. It's small, lightweight, and has a small solar cell, so it's efficiently powered. The buttons are a good size. The only problem I have with it is the plus button (which I don't use all that often for my purposes) is in the spot the equal button usually is on most calculators. I'm constantly pushing the plus button instead of the equal button because of it. It's rarely a problem and only mildly annoying, but it's something to think about if you're considering buying this model.

ive used everything and all tools are useful. they are a bit 'cheap' but thats exactly what i paid for the kit! handles feel like they will break if i applied to much force but theyre for working on comps so no need for the kind of force that would break them. if youre working on cars or appliances get something else but this kit is great for electronics.

a flashlight (and anti-static wrist strap) would round out the kit nicely but if you have a small mag-lite type put it with the kit and youll be all set.

I just purchased a new laptop and wanted to upgrade it myself. Usually when I work on my desktop or other peoples computers I just "borrow" tools from around my house.

I decided I needed something a bit better, and stumbled across this kit. It came in a nice case, with pretty much everything you need for any type of computer repair. I literally broke down my whole laptop (Dell Studio 17) and installed a second HDD, cloned and replaced my main HDD, installed a Bluetooth module, upgraded from 2gb ram to 4gb, and also added keyboard back lighting.

This Belkin tool kit included everything I needed and more to complete this "upgrade" with ease. The tools feel good in your hand (especially for the price) and with a lifetime warranty you cant go wrong. The only other item I had to purchase was an antistatic wrist band.

I'm very happy with this purchase, and enjoy the size of the kit, it fits perfectly in my laptop backpack, and keeps everything in one place!

Broke mechanically in ONE hour of use, a plastic part inside that holds the buttons in place came lose and was rattling around inside and the buttons kept falling out. I fixed this myself. Within three or four weeks the mouse started to halt and hang during movement, the Chinese electrical parts failed. Awful manufacturer's support. Good ergo design rendered useless by poor Chinese quality control. DO NOT buy this mouse.

The unit shipped to me was defective. The optical sensor wasn't working properly. I returned it for a full refund. The sensor did work partially and I tried to use it for half a day. But the position of the buttons was down near the base of my fingers. I found the buttons very difficult to use. I prefer to use my finger tips for button action.

I found that not only did this product have poor production quality, it did not make my arm feel any better either. Because my hand was not in contact with the desk while I used the mouse, I had to constantly lift up my arm just a fraction of an inch so that the mouse could slide smoothly. That aggravated my shoulder and elbow muscles which were already sore from too much overuse over the years. After using it for one hour or so, I went back to my standard old wireless logitech mouse and I was much happier.

First of all, this is a used Sony Clie UX50 PDA that's in very good condition. The product arrived in a timely fashion as expected. After charging and turning on the unit, the backlight was turned downed so low that I had major problems reading the screen and even more problems trying to determine how to adjust the brightness. Battery life has not been good. Unit will not stay charged more than an hour even after charging overnight and not using much wifi. Will need to purchase another battery before any meaningful use. Overall, this is a quality made Sony product.

I have been using this for years now and I have been abusing it the way I always do with my electronics. It survived until the screen got so scratched up I had to buy a new device. For the new one I have a screen protector now. It is very impressive device and I recommend it to anyone even if it is now technologically obsolete. For 2000 year technology it is very impressive even today, it is still perfectly useful and can compete with any of the recent day technology. The only down side today is that the camera is very low definition, but I seldom use it. The blue tooth also is having troubles connecting with today's devices and Sony doesn't care to update the drivers.

I still rank it the highest.

I am sad that Sony is no longer in the PDA business. This is one of the best PDAs of its time. I've had it for several years and still use it. It combines all the features I need, plus more. The keyboard is the main reason I purchased it- very easy to use and illuminates. I also love the ability to check email and surf the web, snap quick pictures, read files, and listen to music and audiobooks. The battery life is not the best, but there are lots of accessories and there is an extended battery. It comes loaded with applications and games. The screen is a nice size. I still get questions and compliments on it!

"Nice for multi-media, but that�s about it." 2003-10-28

I had come from the Diamond Mako or Psion Revo+ which I had bought for ~$100 a couple of years ago. The Mako had its short comings which was mainly the lack a hi-res color screen and lack of upgradeable memory. I loved the keyboard on the Mako and hardly ever used the stylus. The graffiti always seemed slow to enter data and you always had to pull out the pen so I like the keyboard. The NR70 had a keyboard, a nice screen, and expandable memory. I didn't really care about the MP3 player since it's too big too be conveniently used while on the go.
The Apps: The applications have the following problems: 1. The applications that are provided with the NR70 are bear minimum. It seems like they stuck them on it just so they could list them in specs. The contact book only allows you to look at the bear minimum of contact information from outlook (the home addresses don't even show up!!!). The calendar does not let you look at all the data. The mail tool is pretty much only good for letting you look at messages in the inbox. The remote has a limited number of remotes and only allows for basic features (so you need to have the remote around anyway). The calculator is very basic, the documents to go does not translate accurately, the picture program does not ever read GIF files and does not have good pan/zoom features. 2. All of the Apps lack options. The preferences only let you do a couple of things leaving so that customization is minimal. 3. There is very little keyboard support. This is probably because it's palm OS, but I constantly have to switch from keyboard to stylus to even move from text field to text field. 4. The only really useful applications I have I had to buy. This includes a new picture viewer, a new remote too, and a decent database tool.
The Screen: The color, clarity, and resolution of the screen is the best part of the NR70. My main grip is you can use it all. There are only a couple of applications that use the entire screen w/o the graffiti area. Even the OS app browser doesn't let you get ride of this area!
The keyboard: very awkward to use. The NR70 is hard to hold while typing and the keys are located in a weird config. The control/alt/shift key has to be held while typing the character (instead of pressed once) which makes capitals a pain. The enter key and back space are in weird spots. Several times the keyboard has just stopped working and the device has to be reset to get it back. Some of the time, you have to use the palm arrows instead of keyboard arrows. I would not get this device if you are like me and like to use the keyboard for entry.
Other: The battery life seems good. The screen can be seen in almost any light. The MP3 player app is nice if you don't mind a large player.
Overall, I feel upset that I paid $300 for it. I would return it if I hadn't bought it from Sony on-line which I don't recommend. If I hadn't spent so much on it, I would go back to my old PDA.

"warning!" 2003-02-18

After owning 3 Palms and one Pocket PC (... I kept dropping them), I bought but deeply regret buying a Clie. If you are a heavy user of "tasks" as I am, Clie's performance is so bad the PDA is unusable. When one makes any change in the task (...change date to "tomorrow"), there is about a 5 second delay. For all the Palms this was instantaneous. Change "priority"... same thing. Etc. This renders the Clie unusable.
I will not complain about the fact the machine just flat stopped working after a month of use because I sent it in and they fixed it for free and quickly. I pointed out the above problem but they did nothing.
This really disappointed me as I had previously thought well of Sony.

"Memory Stick Gets "lost"" 2003-01-11

This is the slickest handheld to date. I fell in love with the PEG NX70V/U in a nano second when I first laid eyes on it, and I went ahead and got one. Looked cool when I used to take pictures and then stored them on the memory stick (MS). Thats when the trouble began.

I did a not synch and connected to my PC. The Clie did its thing and suddenly there was a bar across the memory stick, so I waited till the synch stopped. Took the Clie out of the cradle and reset it. Still no memory stick on the icon tray, even though the 128 Meg stick was still in. SO I did a hard reset, wiped the handheld and the memory stick was found ! Did a hot synch again, and it could not be found.

Sent it back to Sony for repair, they sent it back with a new MS. Case closed. Hmm, so is set it up and it found the memory stick. Now for the real test, I did a hot synch, and the memory stick disappeared, and the line went through the MS on the icon tray. I just shipped it back to Sony for repair AGAIN...

If they can fix this minor problem I may even be able to use the wireless NIC I bought as well.

I am happy with my Sony Clie, PEG NR70V/U, however I would like to ask a question. I have purchased "Word Games to go", which is supposed to work with both Palm and Pocket PC, however I never managed to install it. The first step of the installation requires to click on the specific handheld (there is Palm, Handheld-Compaq, Handheld-Casio and Handheld-HP listed), however there is no "Sony".Please advise me if there is any way I can install this software and why my handheld will not be compatible with this software, which obviously is good for all the rest of the handhelds? Is there a site I can access in regards to downloading different games for this specific handheld?

"Think Twice Before You Buy" 2002-10-05

This is a love-hate handheld. I've owned my NR70 for four months, and would advise someone to think twice before buying one of these machines.

First the plus side. This is the best looking handheld device I've seen. It's as much of a piece of art as a handheld gets these days. The case is a joy to hold, and the rotating screen doesn't get old after months of use - it's still a blast to spin it into position. The design also serves to protect the screen against scratches. Battery life is not too bad - better than I expected - and it recharges quickly. The 320x480 screen is outstanding when applications support the full resolution (unfortunately few do). With 320x320 apps, the virtual graffiti area and icons are extremely clear.

Now for the negatives. I returned my first two. NR70 Clie #1 had a dead pixel. I swapped it for #2, and upgraded to the NR70V with a camera. Two problems. The camera is very poor quality and I lost interest in it after five minutes of playing with it. The second problem is that the screen brightness of my NR70V was less than that of the NR70. I could see this because my wife had also purchased a NR70 and in a side-by-side comparison, hers was brighter than the NR70V. In addition, when I went back to Circuit City, their NR70 on display was brighter than their NR70V. Not a big difference, but these are expensive machines and I like mine bright. So, I returned the NR70V and wound up with Clie #3. After 4 months of use, here are the downsides:

1) Reliability problems. My wife had to send her NR70 back to Sony for repair because it hosed her memory stick and the infrared wouldn't work. Sony told her these were "known problems" (well, why release the hardware if it has known problems?) She had a poor customer support experience - the packaging Sony mailed to return it for repair arrived several days after it was promised, and it took over two weeks to get her machine back. Sony doesn't really care that users depend on these machines for their jobs and has no program to rush a replacement unit to the user. It breaks, it's your tough luck. One piece of advice from Sony was, "why didn't you purchase an extended warranty from Circuit City." Well, why should I? These machines are expensive enough already! My own Clie has had intermittent problems reading the memory stick and now is unable to transmit wireless. It's not convenient for me to be without it for two weeks, however, so I'm going to try and live with it.

2) The "keyboard" is completely useless. I never have used it. The device should have been made smaller, or this space used for a more useful feature like wireless.

3) The up/down keys and the four buttons for the Palm OS applications are useless. The device feels unnatural in the hand when opened up clamshell style - you can't get a good balance holding it and using the buttons to play games. These buttons belong on the bottom of the screen. The problem is further compounded by the nonstandard configuration and ridiculously small sizes of the up/down buttons.

4) Not enough applications support 320x480. Only two applications that I use regularly do - AcidImage and Mobipocket reader. It is frustrating that more apps don't support this and that Sony did not rewrite the key Palm OS apps (datebook, etc) to support 320x480.

5) Not enough applications support the hires mode. Even the new release of Bejeweled 1.6 doesn't support hires. This is frustrating because once you see a hires app, you don't want to use anything that displays at 160x160. Ever.

6) Sony makes you install a Sony version of the Palm desktop on your PC. I expected that at least after having to uninstall my old Palm desktop and reinstall the Sony desktop, the new one would at least look better. But it is just as uninspired an interface as the standard Palm desktop - couldn't they have spiffed this up a bit?!

7) Too expensive. Price is coming down, but the original retail prices ...are greedily high for a Palm OS device.

8) Prepare to stock up on extra styluses because they don't stay in place too well and fall out of their slot on the side of the Clie.

9) Can't hear MP3's without headphones. Game sounds are loud, system sounds are loud, but MP3s are barely audible.

10) The hold button is easy to slide into the "on" position without knowing it. The first time I did this, it took me a few minutes of fiddling with the Clie to realize it wasn't broken after all. But it keeps happening.

11) The memory stick sometimes pops out of it's slot if the Clie is jostled around in a packpack or briefcase.

12) As noted, the camera in the NR70V is poor quality and not worth the extra price.

All in all, I do enjoy my Clie, but I'd never buy another one of these and I'm staying away from Sony next time around.

"Nice construction, mediocre design." 2000-01-20

I got this as a gift and like having a more substantial cover for my IIIx than just the flip case. However, I find that the I have to hold it open or else the left cover keeps flipping over my screen when I'm using it. You also have to remove it from the case to hot sync with a regular cradle. Lastly, it adds a fair amount of bulk to the whole unit.

I DO appreciate the protection it gives my organizer, it's a little awkward.

This case is reasonably priced but is kind of disfunctional. The palm pilot slides into a holder that has cut-outs for your screen and your buttons. However, it is difficult to get to your stylus and the holder covers parts of the screen.

One of the reasons I selected the Palm Vx was for its slender and streamlined style. I liked the way it fit comfortably into my coat pocket without adding too much bulk.

With slots for credit cards and businees cards this case represents a great concept. However, after filling each of slots with credit cards and adding some business cards, the case became so bulky that it defeated the entire purpose of owning a streamlined Vx.

Also, I found the loop closure very cumbersome and inconvenient.

This is about the best case I've come across. It looks professional, holds your pda very securely (as well as extras) but is still slim enough to fit in a decent sized pocketbook or briefcase. You can't fit everything, though. Some credit cards, cash, a notepad perhaps - it certainly can't hold a checkbook as well as a pda.

A brief aside, one reviewer mentioned that the case comes with a stylus, but he/she couldn't remove it. That's actually the mechanism to secure a Palm V rather than using the velcro.

On the whole, this is a very good case and well worth the money.

Very nice case, good quality construction, looks good. Not large enough to carry a checkbook and handspring at the same time. Probably works best with small pda like Palm V. Security rail feature for use with the Palm V looks really neat, it looks like a stylus sewn into the case and you can slide into the PDA stylus slot so you don't have to use velcro to secure into case.

This PDA Case is attractive and professional; however, space is limited. My PDA was too big at 3.25 x 5 x .75 inches. The case features space for only one pen. It offers an extra stylus pen, but I could not remove it from its holder. Each cardholder houses 2-3 cards. Checkbook doesn't fit well. Seems better suited to PalmPilot-sized PDAs, if PDAs fit well in it at all.

I recently received this product as a gift and find that the accuracy of OCR is quite high and intuitive on my Mac. It works much better than I expected it would. Because it has a wheel that tracks the speed of the movement, even my erratic scans work well. I really enjoy that I can use this product to scan directly into my Circus Ponies Notebook application that I use for taking notes, but there are many options. I found that special characters don't scan well (as expected). A wireless option would be nice, but certainly not expected at this price-point. I would however think that a case would be nice.

INSTALLATION

READ THE MANUAL. It's critical to note (whatever your installation situation) that you must install the software BEFORE plugging the unit into the USB. Installation was a bit tricky for me because I was installing the IrisPen on an instance of VMware.

Because I had so much trouble with this first step (I spent an hour), I attempted to call the company -- whose representatives are NOT easy to reach. I was rolled over into voice mail each time and several voice mail boxes were full. The way I found I could reach tech support was to continually transfer myself back and forth from the tech support extension to the operator extension -- or from the operator extension to the operator extension. Eventually, someone will pick up. I used about 10 minutes each time I called. Luckily, their support line is toll free.

Once I had a rep on the phone, they were VERY considerate and walked me through Control Panel screens to get my VMware system to recognize the pen. (This is a common hiccup with VMware and installing peripherals.) While tech support did not reach a solution, they were happy to ship me a new one in trade for mine, shipping both ways at their expense. In the end, he didn't need to do this because the information I learned from the tech was enough for me to fiddle around and to solve the problem on my own.

EASE OF USE

I found the device moderately intuitive. The manual is VERY well written, and I highly recommend using it to guide your initial setup and usage. The first chapter got me running in about 10 minutes.

GREAT, GREAT, GREAT ACCURACY

------------------------------------

Only after trying another pen scanner did I begin to appreciate the IrisPen. Originally, I tried the InfoScan3Lite (IS3L) from WizCom, which required multiple scans to pick up a semi-reliable phrase. The IS3L did not pick up punctuation, italics or non-standard fonts at all well. On the other hand, the IrisPen, with a little practice (5-10 minutes), captures and recognizes on the first try. You can scan whole paragraphs without having to wait for the pen to recognize the text -- an unfortunate characteristic of the IS3L. Because the IrisPen is accurate, it is also efficient. I don't need to correct so many spelling mistakes.

NOT REALLY PORTABLE

What drew me to the pen scanners was the portability of the unit. Imagined being able to scan text while sitting in waiting rooms or while a passenger in the car. Portability is a feature that the IrisPen claims to have, but doesn't really.

Only because laptops are portable, can you consider the IrisPen portable. You can't use this device away from an operating system of some sort, i.e. you need your desktop or laptop or other USB enabled device. I forgive the marketing folks for their slight-of-hand on positioning the product on this feature since all of the other features of this tool make up for this failing.

After all, what good is portability if it doesn't scan well? In the end, I valued efficiency and accuracy over portability, deciding that I could simply highlight my books -- which are still portable -- and scan the excerpts later at my desk.

"Works Like a Dream" 2007-01-25

As a pastor, I frequently have need to copy text such as prayers from one rite to another. I also prepare versions of all the rites I use in large type so that I can read them from arm's length. That has meant for me a whole lot of typing I would rather not do. This gizmo has become a dream come true.

I cannot attest to some of the capabilities. I have not used the barcode scanning and neither have I used the translation facilities. I have used it to scan text directly from the source document into a Word file. For this, it works well.

It takes a bit of time to get used to. I still sometimes scan the wrong line but going into the document and correcting the text is so much faster than having to type it myself. The ability of this model to scan multiple lines for insertion in a paragraph makes the added price over the EXPRESS model worthwhile.

I have played a bit with the audible text feature that speaks the scanned text. It sounds like Stephen Hawking but is surprisingly intelligible. The translation facilities are rather basic but generally correct. My German and Spanish is better that the translating algorithm but, again, it is still easier to clean things up than to type it from scratch. This is especially true when foreign punctuation is considered.

All in all, I am well satisfied.

"Works Well with German but Not Russian" 2006-03-14

I purchased this pen to help with Translating some books.

If you use German you should have no problem but if you use Russian you will have to switch back and forth between Windows Language settings which can be annoying.

In my opinion when the pen is connected to Your computer Via the USB port the Drivers should be aware that the System is a US English computer and do the conversion without changing Language settings within Windows.

In some cases it might be better if you have a second home computer to use just for Translation.

When Scanning:

Alot depends on the quality of Ink and Paper you are scanning.

Lighting will also have a sizeable factor on your success rate.

Translation software is above 80% accurate in my opinion.

More than enough for the Average Person.

If you want to use the Pen with a better Translator dictionary I don't know how you would go about upgrading.

A trick i use to help speed things up is to forgo the actual scanning and type the paragraphs i need translated into the Dictionary but this just defeats the purpose of Buying the pen scanner in the first place.

usefull product but Tech support just killed it for me.

They are useless Human Beings

I found the orignal Iris Pen II under Windows 2000 far superior to the Iris Pen Executive under Microsoft XP. Both the Iris Pen II and this new design does not integrate as well with Microsoft XP. Aligning the executive type pen with the text is far more difficult than with the II-type pen. The device does function and is faster than typing. However, the performance of the product has degraded under the XP operating system.

"got it for the visor delux works better for my treo 90" 2003-06-13

i bought this little case for my visor delux about a year ago but it was a little small for the delux. However i kept it around any way just in case some one else needed one. low and behold when i got my treo 90 about a month ago i dug this little deal up and it fits perfectly with the smaller treo 90. It also has space for the memory cards and credit cards and money and such. the case is extremely functional and i gurantee you'll get some excellent use out of this pda case. aside from the fact that it's suede and a little difficult to keep clean(or maybe i'm just a dusty guy) i would highly recomend this little case. a little trick for the masses. if your like me and you don't want to apply those velcro sticky things directly to your pda i suggest taking one of the clear over lay screen protectors, stick that to the back of your pda and then stick the velcro to the over lay. the over lays always come off clean and you don't have to worry about sticking those velcro tabs to a $300.00 pda.

I have been looking for a case that was different and reasonably priced. The manufacture (Targus) says it is for the Palm III Series, but my Palm IIIc fit perfectly! The case is beautifully made and it looks like I paid 50.00 for it and not 19.99.

When I received my order the velcro strip for the Visor was missing. I have tried to get it through Amazon and through Targus and I have still not gotten even a response. The case is of no use to me without it. I will have to find my own solution. I dont think I will buy another Targus product.

I used this for my PhD work and quoting sources in my journal articles unfortunately I had to stop using it because I recently purchased a MAC halfway through my studies. I thought the speed was fine - especially compared with other scanners I had used and the accuracy was excellent - the faster I scanned the more accurate it was actually. The best part of this product was the customer support. when I purchased my VISTA they sent me the new software and cable free of charge and then walked me through the set up process for both computers I was using at the time. I highly recommend this product!

Wiz- Com was one of the 1st to come out w/ a handheld pen scanner, and the idea is great...

The sell- point for me was convenience and the thought that I would be able to speed up processing data for school. Unfortunately, the software app. for this scanner sucked, the interface was a total pain in the a** to get functioning correctly, and text- editing was a nightmare. I ended up wasting more time trying to get it to work than it was worth. Total waste of my time and money.

Save your $$$ and wait until better models come out in the future. This was a case of rushing a great idea to market before the technology was ready for consumer application.

The wizcom scanning pen is great for people who do a lot of reading and need to save 1-10 line passages every page or two.

It would be nice if the scanning accuracy were always 100% (I use foreign languages that have different characters thrown in sometimes) but it still saves enormous amounts of time since I don't have to type what I want into my laptop meaning I'm free to keep my eyes on the text without distraction.

If you don't care to have your laptop with you, just take the pen and store all the info to transfer over to your PC later.

If you want you can scan directly into your computer. I often scan directly into a little notecard program which means once I've finished my article or whatever. All my notes are saved together and are searchable. If you need to search for elements of text this is very handy.

It's good for humanities people like myself though I do think improving the technology could always continue.

I bought and used the pen for a while just to see if I liked the system. It does work as advertised, but it is too slow to really be of any use. A better choice would be to save the money and spend it on omnipage. I priced things after using the pen and realized that I could buy a better scanner 9x12" with omnipage for under $90. Even the lite version that came with the scanner is better then the pen. I was able to resell the pen to someone else since I had no use for it.

This is one of the worst gadgets (if you could call it that) I have ever bought in my life. It is totally useless. Yes, I could scan, but I have spent 5 hours trying to get it to communicate with my computer. The program does not even attempt to communicate. I am now sending it back. You would be better off throwing your money out of the window. At least someone could pick it up and use it for something worthwhile.

"Problems since day one!" 2009-11-16

I purchased this computer in March 2009. First of all, it's over priced, you should get at least 120gb hard drive! Half the space is already gone before it's delivered to your door. The screen is pretty small, it's really hard to read at times, you can increase the screen size on Windows Explorer but that makes it hard to navigate through the pages. Secondly, I can never use it for an extended amount of time because it freezes. I have to shut it down and reboot ! I haven't loaded anything on it because there isn't room so I'm not taking up any space. It also crashes and reboots on its own, I'll get some kind of crazy blue screen. Also, regardless of where I am, when I'm using the internet, it decides to disconnect or give me a limited connectivity messages. Lastly and worst of all, the screen cracked! Not sure if the dog or one of the kids stepped on it but I opened the screen and it looks cracked with broken pixels. Called Sony, because I figured it would still be under warranty and was told it's not covered! Had the same thing happen with my Dell computer and they fixed it with no problem, no questions asked! Then, these people at Sony had the nerve to tell me that a new screen would cost around $600!!! That's over half of what I paid for this piece of garbage! Oh well, you live and learn. Don't buy anything because it's "CUTE". That's really the only reason I did. I guess I'll buy one of those $400 netbooks!

"The battery life kills this product" 2009-10-08

The packaging is beautiful and the size is wonderful. The battery life is simply not good enough to make the product useful to me.

Booting the machine is painfully slow. It takes something like 5 minutes for a complete boot. If you want to tinker with registry and stuff maybe this could be reduced a bit.

What I want is a PC that acts like a cell phone: you open the cover and it is ready to go. 5 minute boot is not acceptable in that scenario.

You can avoid the boot by making the system sleep/hibernate when you close the lid. It takes less that a minute for it to wake up, and I could live with this, except the system consume significant energy when it is asleep. If I close the lid (and put the machine to sleep) on a full battery, it will not make it through the day asleep. If you use it for a half hour, you have reduced the sleep time quite a bit (a couple of hours).

I am sure Sony has a list of tips for extending battery life, but I don't want to become a laptop energy expert.

My guess is that people who give powerpoint presentations would love this, also people who fly a lot. It would be great for them because it is so small and light and the battery life wouldn't matter because in both these situations you could plug it in.

I'm curious if replacing the hard drive with a flash drive would help. Also, maybe a faster hard drive would make the boot quicker. Windows 7 might help. Maybe running Linux would help the boot time too.

I've toyed with getting the extended battery, but the thought of spending another $100 after the original $999 is not very attractive. I'm seriously wondering if I can find someone who would trade a Kindel DX for the Sony.

I also use this at home, i plug this tiny computer, to my 46' LCD T.V. , not saying there something wrong with it screen, it the crisp's, sharpest, screen, FOR A SMALL laptop. This amazing device need credit to it visions of taking the next step. Just add all the devices i explain, it will cost 40% and all those devices you have to carry,and worry about power cords, adapters. SONY IS THE ONE ONLY.

Do yourself a favor and stay away from Sony laptops and notebooks. I have been a SONY fan for ages, but this time they let me down to the extent that I'll never buy Sony again. I bought a Sony Vaio VGN FZ series and after 15 months the motherboard completely broke. It just shut off with no warning and I tried to get help from Sony but they have the worst techinical support in the USA; the only thing they do (after waiting several minutes on the phone for someone to take your call) is say "I am sorry for your inconvenience" or "send your laptop to the Service Center". I live in Virginia and their proposal was me to send the laptop to San Diego, CA!!!!! and I would have to run with all costs (including shipping) plus they told tha it would be more than 500 dollars to repair a laptop that costs 980 dollars brand new!!!! I just gave up and wiil be definitely getting a new one; however, this time I am going to go for a Dell or HP because now I realize the importance of a good technical support.

I purchased this item and immediately noticed it had no latch! no magnet, and no way to keep it shut. Knowing this would be a problem I went to return it at bestbuy and they wanted a 15% restocking fee so I ended up keeping it. God what a mistake that was, I was on my way to class, I'm a college student and I have a lot of paperwork mind you, and I went to open my laptop and the screen was scratched, because apparently a cd got wedged in between the screen and the keyboard! - I called sony and asked for a replacement screen and they said that this was an outside of warranty issue. Heres my problem with this, I spent all this money on a laptop, only to realize that it didn't come with a latch! even after the salesperson sold it to me telling me it had a way "some how" to latch, and then after the first year of owning it, keep in mind my screen is now scratched... the hinges have come loose! - so stuff gets in the computer even more now... This computer would be great, if sony didn't have such a crappy warranty policy about replacing a damaged product, clearly caused by an idiot engineer that DIDN'T want to put a latch on my laptop! Thanks for nothing guys...

I was looking forward to receiving my case, as I have a Targus case for my laptop, and am extremely satisfied with it. This case is made just as well.
Beware, this is not for anyone who uses an expansion pack or any accessories would want to purchase. First, there is very little room. When I put my Targus keyboard in and zipped it up, I was not able to completely zip it in all the way to the end. There is no room for any of the connectors nor for the required IPAQ adapter.
To put your PocketPC in, you will find that you need to use Velcro stick-ons on your PocketPC. The PocketPC is only held into place with Velcro! and the strap that holds the cover over the PocketPC does not latch!
To me this is 100% unacceptable. I do not want any sticky objects on my pocket PC. If you stick the velcro to your handheld, then you would not be able to use your expansion pack nor any other acceories that attach to the PocketPC in that manner. It would not feel right in your hand and would not lay flat on a desk. It would look ugly from the rear. Who wants velcro patches on their PocketPC anyway?
So, just for this reason, I strongly suggest finding other alternatives. I plan to return mine.

I am filled with feelings of anger and despair as I see the once great Palm Corporation in its death throes. I bought my first Handspring Visor Deluxe in early 2001 for $250 -- had it stolen 11 months later -- and bought another refurbished one from Handspring in Feb 2002 for just $100. The device gave me outstanding service until it died just a few days after its 4th (re)birthday. A refurbished device lasting 4 years! Since yesterday I have been looking for a replacement, inexpensive PalmOS handheld. Unfortunatlely, there is only PalmOne (or whatever they are called now) corporation left (having swallowed Handspring) and the PalmOS has been sold to a Japanese company. The reviews for Palm's current products -- nearly all from longtime loyal Palm-product users -- nearly uniformly slam the products.

I am depressed. I hate the MS PocketPC (or whatever they call the current version) devices -- they are much too complex, they are slow, they are too Windows-like, and they are darned expensive. In contrast, PalmOS devices were snappy, reliable, simple and easy to use, and relatively inexpensive. What more could one ask for?

There seems to be no reasonable alternative now. Should I take a risk with the low end Palm Z22 (and have it fail in two months). Handspring's customer service used to be outstanding. Palm's current customer service sucks big time. Even if the company goes out of business in the next six months (it definitely will be gone before December 2006), I don't care, as long as I can get a decent PalmOS device that lasts the next 4 years.

Thanks for all the good times, Handspring and Palm! Too bad you faded away and left us to be devoured by Microsoft.

Good basic handheld, works well with Outlook 2000 (with the included Chapura Pocketmirror software). It's been fairly troublefree, with the exception of occasionally wigging out and requiring a hard reset.

Bottom line, it's a good handheld if you can get it inexpensively. Don't count on Handspring support, they charge & they're not that helpful.

I bought this case specifically for my Targus keyboard. It fits perfectly. It's been in my bag since the day I bought it and it doesn't show any wear or tear (compared to my handspring visor case).

Out of curiosity, I put my visor in this case to see how it would fit (it is a "Universal" case afterall), but my handheld was much smaller than the case and I wouldn't want it bumping around in my bag all the time. Plus, the way the handheld has to be slipped into the case is rather akward.

I would only recommend this case for your keyboard and get a case designated for the style of handheld that you own.

...you might've expected more from Targus. Perhaps this works fine with the Palm devices, but with pocket PC's (at least the Aero 1550)...no way! For starters, it's got an uncomfortable security rail for the Palms, which gets in the way of your Pocket PC. But most importantly...once you get your PPC, credit cards, money, check book, receipts, etc. you end up with a non-practical bulky huge case which is hard to fit almost anywhere. I mean...I use it for traveling, but on a daily basis, I rather use the simple case that came along with my PPC

"Once Upon a Time There Was a Good Company..." 2003-03-18

Once upon a time there was a good company called Handspring. I think they hired a bean counter or they got greedy or both. Customer service from this company is better described as customer disservice. The product itself is okay but not spectacular. It will get the job done but you will, if you're anything like me, find lmitations that really could have been ironed out with a little more r&d. I bought the device based on the customer service. That customer service is no longer available. I HIGHLY recommend one of their competitors.

I debated between palm and handspring.....and that has made all of the difference. The customer service is non-existant. No toll free number, very limited hours, I had sveral long waits to speak with a rep who spoke broken english. I was told I would be e-mailed with the XP up-grade...it never came. I had to chase it down and it still doesn't work. Apparrently after 90 days, they don't care you bought a product ....they charge you for tech help. Buy the Palm!!!

Get serious, Handspring! I bought a Visor Deluxe (green) when they first shipped. I have had it for a year and tried to use it on rounds in my medical practice. I found the construction flimsy and not rugged enough for the hospital environment. Inevitably, one day it fell from my scrub pocket onto the floor. Although the unit looked okay, the touch screen didn't work from that point on. Tech support told me to return it for repair which I did. For $80, I received a refurbished unit since apparently they recycle them. I was a long time user of the HP200LX. When the Visor came out thought I was "stepping up" to the new palm technology. After experiencing the palm, I prefer my old HP. The HP200LX by the way has NEVER let me down even after being dropped several times. The HP200LX batteries also last about 3 months whereas the palm has only lasted about 20 days. For serious business, I'll stick with the HP200LX. If I want a toy, I'll pick up my Visor Deluxe.

The more features you add, the more you can take full advantage of your Handspring visor.

I bought my Handspring Prism for less at an refurbished electronics store. Mine was new out of the box. I had no idea that this was going for as much $150.00 online! So the price being offered here is a real steal. No replacement for your laptop, but it can be a very useful tool, if your willing to spend extra and get the springboard modules to make these units extra useful. One of my favorite features is, unlike windows, Handspring Visor Prism remembers your last task so you don't have to start all over again in contacts, memopad, notepad,Games Etc. The prism actually remembers where you were, and takes you back right where you left off, in a task. That's a feature I would love to see in a Windows computer.

I have had my Prisim for 3 years now, The hard shell cover has allowed me to carry, (and sit on )it for all of the 3 years. The 8 meg is plenty for normal use.

It is in use every day, and backedup/charged just as frequently.

I know there are more advanced units out there, with more features and such, but I dred the day I will need to find a replacement that can measure up to this one when it is gone.

I never leave home without it for sure!

I've been using Visor Prism + Phone for about 2 months now, I bought it from a local store which suprisingly still had some stocks and guaranteed the item for 1 year.
Overall, I found it very very useful. I'm not a heavy PDA user, so mainly I use it to read e-books, see photos, games. Visor's 8 Megs is more than enough.
More about the phone, I can't tell how much I admire the modularity of Springboard. Handspring engineer have done great job. The phone and sms function work perfect, compared to the more pricey Tungsten W.
It's better than Treo 270 I assume, on color display (Treo has 4096 while Prism has 65K) and of course using Visor I don't have to worry about flip hinge crack that often happen to Treo user.
Some drawbacks that I found is that battery drained quickly, I also notice that there are some dead pixels in the unit I bought, and last but not least it's quite heavy to carry.
Based on the above, I still think that this product is a great collectible item,worth the price, and everywhere you carry it people were just curious to know. It's a bit rare that to some it's more intriguing than even the popular O2 XDA. Well done Handspring!

I have had to reset it like a million times. Good thing is it does n ot lose your data whet you reset.

The camera is a sham and never works at all.

Nice media player though.

You can not sync it on any other palm OS even those that run The same OS.

I just bought this PDA and it is everything I could hope for. Sony struck a pot of gold with this one. Get a memory card (128 mb maybe) and you have enough memory for thousands of applications. I had trouble with Sonic Stage, but I am assuming I can figure it out. The camera works great. The keyboard is not good with numbers, but you can use the on screen one for that. My wife bought this for me and I love it! The previous PDAs I have owned were not nearly as high tech. I certainly could not say more about the wonderful camera features than the other reviewer. As for all the other features all I can say is they work great. I have had mine about six months now and I have used them all and I have not had any problems. I mainly use it for my DVD and CD databases and games, but all the capabilities are amazing. I also highly recommend getting the Belkin USB Sync/Charge cable. It sure beats using a Sync/Charge Cradle since it is easy to carry anywhere.

I purchased this item and immediately noticed it had no latch! no magnet, and no way to keep it shut. Knowing this would be a problem I went to return it at bestbuy and they wanted a 15% restocking fee so I ended up keeping it. God what a mistake that was, I was on my way to class, I'm a college student and I have a lot of paperwork mind you, and I went to open my laptop and the screen was scratched, because apparently a cd got wedged in between the screen and the keyboard! - I called sony and asked for a replacement screen and they said that this was an outside of warranty issue. Heres my problem with this, I spent all this money on a laptop, only to realize that it didn't come with a latch! even after the salesperson sold it to me telling me it had a way "some how" to latch, and then after the first year of owning it, keep in mind my screen is now scratched... the hinges have come loose! - so stuff gets in the computer even more now... This computer would be great, if sony didn't have such a crappy warranty policy about replacing a damaged product, clearly caused by an idiot engineer that DIDN'T want to put a latch on my laptop! Thanks for nothing guys...

When my old Palm Z22 died, and I didn't want to change to a multi-function phone that lacked some Palm features, I was delighted to find new and refurbished Z22s at Amazon.com. My refurbished Z22 arrived quickly and looked brand new. I was able to merge my old data file with the new one and saved all my data. The only down side was the stylus would not stay in it's socket. I wrapped one layer of clear tape around the stylus and it now stays in the socket.

My old Palm TX died, and I didn't like it. The browsers are horrible; you can't see anything on the screen, it's too small. I liked the Tungsten E2 I had before it, so I wanted to get another Tungsten E2...but $579! Yikes! No way! I guess my PDA days are over as I don't like Smartphones either (and they have smaller screens than the TX!), especially given they can't communicate directly with the computer (we can't have people using the phone as a modem for the computer now can we?). Too bad, they are a real convenience, especially being able to create EXEL files, but that price is way too out of line for me.

I am a Palm Pilot user from WAY back when they first came out. I have used them at work and play and have, until now, had no mechanical issues with any of the four different ones I have used (Palm I, Palm III, Palm IIIc,and M515). The ONLY reason I purchased a Tungsten E2 is because I spilled water on my M515 and it died (ya think). The touch screen on the Tungsten E2 I received has yet to work properly. I touch it in one spot, the pointer clicks somewhere else and you have to be very alert to find it sometimes. Based on others reviews, I have not tried to have it fixed because I have little, if any, patience with faulty mechanical devices.

I am currently trying to find something to replace the E2 because it has fallen into the black hole in my bedroom where all things lost go to hide. The only reason I have for "needing" a PDA is for the games. I am retired and I like having specific mind tickling games to entertain myself with and to make sure that what brain cells I have left are still semi-working.

'Just purchased the Orange Handspring Visor Deluxe. I had always this one back when it was new but went ended up saving for the Visor Edge. Still, I never forgot the Orange visor so came back to it now 10 years on. I picked up 4 Springboard modules at the same time (Intelligolf, Tiger Woods golf, Eyemodule, and 33.6 modem). All work well - like the day it was new. This includes the modem (got connected the first time I tried using a free copy of Eudora mail and web browser).

I've had just one problem resulting in a reset every time I hotsync'd. It was due to an automatic installation of Palm OS update 3.1.1 Each hotsync tried to install that update. I simply pulled that update out of the Palm folder on my computer (put it in a different named folder) and problem solved.

I am using this on Mac OS 10.4.11 without any problems. I sync the address book and iCal. Works great and I'm using this 10 year old product like it was brand new. Love it. It's getting just a little harder to find software for this older Palm OS (version 3), but they still exist - much of it free. 'Couple of searches find what will work. Still, I'm doing well with the organizer functions and the Springboards I picked up.

So far the 2 AAA batteries are still showing over 75% and I've been using this everyday for well on 3 weeks. I just can't help but feel we've taken a step backwards with all our color screen devices that need charging every day or two. Maybe organizers are still good to have and maybe they can still have black/white screens.

For a total shopping cart of less than $75 (Visor + 4 Springboards), I cannot be happier. This is an early highlight purchase of 2009!

Simple, playful, easy to use, and fairly intuitive, my Handspring Visor remains one of my favorite technology purchases almost a decade after I bought it.

I eventually replaced it with an iPod Touch, but in a lot of ways the Visor is a superior product. It has great battery life (and easily-replaceable batteries), wonderful expansion abilities, and the available collapsable keyboard from Targus made it a perfect ultra-light microcomputer. I used my Visor for many years in college as a portable word-processor for writing essays and research papers, since I could easily take it everywhere I went.

Even though it's "out of date" I still like using it more than any of the newer smartphones or mini-laptops.

I wish more companies would make products like this.

While I hardly use my Visor Deluxe for more than a address book and electronic note pad that is enough for me. Have had this items since December 01 and it has taken a beating and kept on going. My daughter plays with it all the time as I downloaded some games to it. Hardly can find it when I need it though as she has always got it. From what I have seen of other palm devices this one is up to snuff and works as well. These can be had for next to nothing at this point in the tech game as well. Good Beginner PDA to get your feet wet.

I wear several hats and find this is about the perfect hat rack! I resisted buying one until that post-it-note hid on the back of a letter I was about to mail. Now everything from business contacts to my pedometer are here. I want to add a camera and phone. Oh, and an MP-3 player! This is a terrific entry-level PDA and I love having the ability to add on modules. Also, I can cart my writing to work and home, and edit it in between on Word and Excel. It's really simple to use. I have had my Handspring Visor Deluxe for 5...yes, FIVE years (actually longer). While I take decent care of it, it has taken care of me. My doctor has one too...exactly like mine and we often talk about how perhaps they should be replaced, but the darn thing is still working great and does everything we need it to. I finally ordered a new PDA with all the capabilities of my laptop and am passing this one on to someone else who needs it. (I'm not selling it...good karma)

Down to business - the Handspring Visor Deluxe is not the creme de la creme anymore. But in its day it was. Great product and if you don't need the bells and whistles (or color display)...go for this. Totally flawless. People often complain about the styli of other PDAs. No complaints here. Not only is it relatively comfortable, it is stainless tipped with plastic on both ends (doesn't break) and it stays securely in place when you store it in the device. I literally lost my ORIGINAL stylus just a few days ago.

The display is not as easy to read as the new super crisp glossy screens that are out now, but if you need a basic device with a few bells and whistles that are thrown in for fun (heck, a good deal of the new ones don't have IR)... go for it. And for the price I just saw it listed for on Amazon ($85) it's a total steal. Great product.

I use my Visor all the time- I wear it on my belt - I use the add on module area to carry pills in. Love the thing EXCEPT:

The display stinks - All of the PDAs have really lousy displays - NO I don't want color - I want better contrast ratio and get rid of the glare! I'd pay more for a better display (throw a bit more RAM in at the same time.) The Glare is so bad that someone wrote a program that blacks out the screen so you can use it as a Mirror!

One other tip - I find that the pen point of the optional pen stylus works better than the stylus that comes wit it - requires much less pressure and does not scratch it. Just throw the stylus cover away.

I received my Handspring Visor Deluxe today and it is so easy to use. I have already memorized the Graffiti. Hotsyncing is also really easy and extremely fast! Get it NOW. You won't regret it. It is a great deal. The slim leather case is normally around $25. You can't get much better than that. Some people say the slim leather case makes it look bulky. It is not bulky at all to me. If you want to see bulky, take a look at the oldest laptop there is. It is the best. You name it, it can probably do it. This is a great product especially if you want to be organized. Great job Handspring!

Having seen several PDAs on the market, especially Palm OS ones, I don't think the Handspring Visor gets enough credit for being a great all-around handheld. I've owned my Visor Deluxe since December, 2000, and I find it completely indispensible -- every time I go somewhere without it, I find myself wishing I had brought it.

It is versatile, stingy with batteries, rugged (especially with the Targus belt-clip case!), and a good daily user. I also think it is more attractive than the average boring Palm OS clones, as it manages to turn heads whenever I take it out.

I'm also not sure why some say that its construction seems cheap -- on the contrary, I feel the Handspring has a stronger, heftier feel in my hand than many of the Palm, Inc. handhelds, and I've never once faced a problem with any part of the equipment.

Also, for Mac users (which I am), the fact that it comes with a USB cradle is a great deal, as it means not having to waste money buying an adapter and software extra to use your handheld with the computer.

I do concede, however, that the colorful Handspring Visors are for cooler people as opposed to corporate types, which would probably prefer the graphite version. But as a young person (23 years old), I appreciate the modern look of the Visor.

I've had the TX for about 3 years using it for about 2-3 hours everyday for work and sometimes music. I love it. It has been very stable and reliable for me. The only downside with Palm is that it cannot read SDHC cards, which is the format all adequate memory sizes come in (4GB and up). So that's its Achilles heel. However, there are now some sites offering a driver solution to that issue for about $20. (like [...]) So overall very satisfied and recommend it to anyone who wants an organizer/word-processor/wifi/and occasional music player.

The Palm TX is an upgrade for me from a Sony Clie that is stuck in a 'reset' cycle after 7 years of use.

I am a long time user of Palms and was attracted by the ability of the TX to access the internet over WiFi which is useful at times.. but the browser does not read all WEb pages accurately nor does the Opera Mini browser.

There are lots of free applications available on the internet from Weather reports to MS Application converters (DocsToGo) which convert Word, Excel etc documents to be able to read and sync them with a PC version.

So far the biggest issue for me ids thta I can't get a musical alrm.. I was used to having snapshots of music as alarms on my Clie - but the TX is backward in that regard and only plays 'beeps'... at least that is all that I can get it too do at the moment... the sound applications thta I have were unstable and caused a reset. Pocket tunes is good for playing music but does not integrate with the alarms as far as I can tell.

Another issue is the digitizer on the screen which keeps going out of accuracy.. there is lots on the net about replacing the plastic screen with a glass one.

There is also a reported issue with the on/off button - but I haven't come across that yet - although I have installed a workaround that I found!

All in all, I am very happy with the TX. I did not want a phone and the TX suits me fine.

Be aware that Palm does not hot sync with windows 7 64 bit at this time. I learned this getting a new computer and finding out. It apparently does work with 32 bit windows 7 machines. A lot of frustrated palm users out there right now. Also after 2 years I always develop some sort of problem. This is my third TX. I love Palm softare and the unit is otherwise great, but may leave it soon because I can't deal with the inefficiency.

This was a replacement unit. My previous one became accidentally badly damaged and I felt it would be better to purchase a new unit than to undergo a large repair expense on the old one. I've used Palms for many years and the TX for three years and have been very happy with it. It's very readable...much better than previous models. It effortlessly stores all of my information and Documents To Go is a pleasure.

"Great PDA if the backlight doesn't burn out" 2005-01-06

I've had my PDA for about a year and never had a major problem however one month after the extended warantee expired my backlight burned out. The color screen is useless without it. This is a chronic problem with the sony Clie's. They offer very little support for this problem if your expensive pda burns out. A know design flaw that cost as much as the pda to fix. Don't buy a sony Clie if you can't afford to replace the unit after a year.

This is one of the worst products of any kind that I have ever bought in my entire life. My first one lost power after a month, even though it was charged and never came back on. They tried a new battery, but the gizmo was dead. So, I got the replacement. Heck, there can be a bad apple in every barrel.

The new one had a great deal of difficulty keeping the backlight on. For no apparent reason, it would just not be on when the unit was turned on. Usually holding the power on switch up would start it up. That was until the final day, when it wouldn't come on, dumped all my data and died. This was when it was only three months old. The only thing that restrained me from driving my car over it so that it would be really dead, was the thought that I needed to return it.

In addition, if you should be so foolish as to buy this thing, if it happens inadvertently turn on in your purse or if it rings an alarm for a meeting and you don't hear it, it will stay on until the battery dies.

You've been warned..................

I had to retire a palm zire 21 after 2 months because it would reset itself almost every other day. I sent it to the palm guys and it came back in worse condition that before. After reading the reviews on Amazon...I decided to call it quits while I was ahead and search for another PDA. (I had a palm Vx prior to that for 2 years).

WOW! What a jewel the Sony Clie is! It has much more memory than my other two models and for a work at home mom that's using her PDA to keep track of life, recipes, and wants all names and addresses at her fingertips, IN COLOR, this was a WONDERFUL purchase!

For the price (mine was $139), I cannot complain. It is much faster than my other palm pilots, the battery life is great, I don't really care that much about included applications, although the outlook "handler" does a great job (or seems to), and I think Sony really thought out the organization of the main screen on this PDA. A+

I picked up my TJ25 a few weeks ago, and I was immediately impressed with the clarity of the screen, the snappiness of the interface, and the connectiblity with Outlook 2k3.

After using it for these few weeks, I have had no problems yet. The battery life is excellent, although i never let it get below half-drained, and it is nice and small, so it can fit in my coat pocket easily.

Very good product from Sony, and, as always, great service from Amazon.

It only has up to Flash Player 6 which is built in, in it, and to the best of my knowledge and research at this moment of writting this review and I have done some, I can't upgrade it. Thus I can't play Youtube, Dailymotion, etc. on it or watch movies on it.

Maybe if somebody know how to upgrade it to the latest Flash Player or to atleast Flash Player 9 or maybe to something equivalent or comparable, I would ask them to please share that knowledge here.
